About the Aurora Neuroinclusion Program

Services Australia’s Aurora Neuroinclusion Program (Aurora) aims to improve work and career outcomes for people with an autism or ADHD diagnosis.

Together with Employ for Ability, Aurora offers a unique recruitment process that’s flexible, safe, supportive and inclusive. Aurora offers roles in a variety of fields and:

  • provides a career pathway into Services Australia for people with an autism or ADHD diagnosis
  • demonstrates the individual and organisational benefits of employing people with autism or ADHD through an inclusive recruitment process
  • showcases the diverse and unique skills and attributes people with an autism or ADHD diagnosis have to offer in employment
  • aims to increase the representation of people with disability in Services Australia and the Australian Public Service (APS).

Before You Apply

Check your Eligibility 

Before you apply, check if you’re eligible.

To be eligible, you need to provide evidence of a diagnosis of either:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder/Condition, including autistic disorder (autism), Asperger’s syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, or pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS)
  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Evidence may include either:

  • a full diagnostic report or a redacted section of your report that states autism or ADHD as a diagnosis
  • a letter from a psychologist, psychiatrist or general practitioner confirming a diagnosis of autism or ADHD
  • information confirming your diagnosis from a supporting agency such as the NDIS or a Disability Employment Services provider.

Proof of Australian citizenship

In addition to providing evidence of your diagnosis, you will need to provide Proof of Australian citizenship evidence. Full details are available on the job description document.

Intelligence Officer

Brief Description

Intelligence Officers detect and analyse information and data to produce intelligence to identify and manage threats of corruption, or exploitation of payments and services administered by the agency.

They undertake initial assessments and low complexity intelligence activities on potential fraud threats to support fraud intelligence functions. This can include contacting Services Australia customers where they are at risk of being the victim of fraud.

The Intelligence Branch minimises harm to the agency’s customers and protects the integrity of the agency’s payments and services through proactive intelligence strategies, sophisticated analysis, and the production of high-quality intelligence advice. They focus on up-front fraud controls to reduce harm to customers whose identify has been compromised and stop fraudulent payments from being issued.

As an Intelligence Analys you work as part of a multi-skilled team to:

  • action real-time alerts triggered through fraud detection systems
  • triage high-risk detections of suspected fraud in line with guidelines
  • undertake pre-payment analysis on high-risk claims and transactions
  • contribute to fraud detection and prevention strategies.

Program Support Officer

Brief Description

Program Support Officers undertake procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks to ensure consistent delivery of the agency’s program services. They provide support to projects, monitor project schedules and budgets, prepare progress reports and conduct basic research and analysis.

The Tailored Programs Branch is responsible for ensuring the needs of vulnerable customers are considered in the delivery of agency payments and services. This includes supporting appropriate access to services and payments for people from multicultural backgrounds, incarcerated customers, people affected by family and domestic violence and farmers.

As an APS4 Program Support Officer you work as part of a multi-skilled team to:

  • assist senior team members to coordinate agency programs including preparing program documents
  • assist in research and analysis including database searches and contribute to statistical reports
  • provide advice, procedural guidance, and administrative support
  • assist in policy review including the development of new policies and guidelines
  • interact with internal and external stakeholders to resolve routine program and policy issues
  • identify opportunities for business and process improvement and offer change solutions to leadership.

The Data Strategy and Governance Branch provides the policy, guidance, support and advice required to ensure the agency uses and manages data in a way that builds public trust and confidence in our practices.

As an Information Governance Officer, you work as part of a multi-skilled team to:

Technical Information and Knowledge Officers work across a range of business areas and assist in providing information and data that meets stakeholder and agency needs. They assist with information management, data extraction and knowledge transfer. They understand data requirements and analyse scenarios with management information systems.

They gather and assist in the process of controlling information by considering the following information management factors: policy, design, sourcing, analysis, compliance and interpretation.

The Data Analytics Innovation Branch supports the agency’s Data and Analytics Strategy through analysis and innovation, as well as developing and delivering data and analytics services and support. They seek to:

Data Analysts research and solve organisational issues by identifying trends and providing insights from data analysis.  They understand data requirements and analyse matching scenarios within data management tools. They support the control of data management processes, performing administrative, technical and customising tasks in the data environment.

The Centrepay Branch is responsible for program management and compliance of Centrepay, a government financial tool. The Branch is working to reform the Centrepay service to better empower, support and protect customers.

What you’ll do:

As an APS5 Data Analyst, you work as part of a multi-skilled team to:

  • ​Perform administrative, technical, and customising tasks in the data environment
  • Assist with data management and provide input to develop data standards and strategy
  • Contribute to data quality programs and audits
  • Detect data inconsistencies, escalate issues and suggest alternative approaches
  • establish and maintain data business rules, security specifications, data retention criteria and data modelling solutions
  • Prepare reports, corporate and technical documents
  • Assess, define, integrate and coordinate data from multiple operational systems
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the timely implementation of projects.
