Employ for Ability's Gardening group has been hard at work tending to our plot at the Canberra Organic Growers Society (COGS) Each week Garden Group goes to water, weed, and harvest the wide variety of produce that we grow. They also get the chance to learn plant care, garden design and sustainable practices. Our Effective Communication Program (ECP) focuses on equipping participants with the communication skills they need for building relationships socially and in employment. We build on existing skills and enhance capabilities relevant to the workplace. ECP is a 10-week program, each week consists of a 3-hour small group session and a one-on-one with a coach to reinforce learnings and goals. The next upcoming ECP starts Monday 19 May 2025. Some of our clients do work experience at Goodies Junction where they help sort and arrange donation items for resale. Through doing this work experience participants will learn about inventory management, stock control, safe lifting, and retail. Participants will also learn about reducing landfill, how old items can be given a new life and raising money for charitable causes.
